home offers the best protection from termite attack as they provide a continuous treatment zone around the whole building.
Two types of chemicals can be used:
-
Repellent chemicals e.g. Bifenthrin products like BIflex
-
Non Repellent chemicals e.g. Fipronil products such as the well known Termidor
Each chemical has its benefits and can also be used for localised spot treatments to active termite workings. This particularly works well in conjunction with a full perimeter treatment to a building.
Interception & Baiting Systems
Interception and Baiting Systems are designed to concentrate termite feeding in specific locations. Once feeding has been concentrated at the Monitoring Stations, the Monitoring Device in the Stations is replaced with a chitin synthesis inhibitor, an insect growth regulator (IGR) has been shown to prevent termites from moulting. This results in their death and the eventual elimination of the colony whilst minimizing the use of chemicals in the environment.
Where live termites are feeding within a building, an above-ground Baiting Station containing the Bait is installed at these feeding points. This may require inserting two small screws and the creation of a small access hole in the wall to enable termites to freely enter the feeding station. These Stations are removed once the colony has been eliminated.
In-ground Monitoring Stations are also embedded in the soil around the perimeter of the building. These are inspected by our trained staff on a regular basis until sufficient termite activity is located to support replacement of the Monitoring Device with the Termite Bait. The use of these In-ground Stations avoids the need to carry out more invasive types of treatments such as drilling and injecting.
Once colony elimination has been achieved, the in ground station then becomes a monitoring device for any other colonies that maybe located in the vicinity.
