Fleas
Fleas are common in Australia and unfortunately are often brought into the home by household pets. Your daily dog walk around the neighbourhood can expose your pet to fleas. Fleas can bring an irritating itch to both humans and pets, including allergic reactions. Even without pets, it is still possible to experience flea problems. For example, if the previous residents of your home were pet owners. The tiny flea thrives in many climates but prefers a humid climate. In the home, you will most likely find them in and around pets bedding and carpet.

Fleas are a parasite with adult fleas feeding on the blood of host animals by biting and sucking blood. Cat and dog fleas are the most common and will bite and feed on dogs, cats and humans and on outdoor animals such as possums or rats.
As fleas are so tiny, you will likely only know you have them if a pet is irritated & scratching a lot or tiny red bite marks are appearing on humans, usually around the ankle and legs.
